Competency is assessed on a continuous basis by theory examination and practical assessment. Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.

Who is this course designed for?
This Chainsaw Level 2 course is designed to provide participants with the necessary competencies to undertake the process of basic tree felling work where hazards are assessed as low to moderate risk.

The participant will learn how to prepare and maintain tree felling equipment, bring the tree down in a controlled manner, and complete clean-up operations to current industry standards. Generally trees with trunk diameter <50cm DBH and <20m in height.

Applicants can enrol into this course at any time throughout the year

Entry requirements:
It is advantageous for candidates to have already completed:

  • Applicants must have and submit evidence of holding a qualification in chainsaw operation and use. Appropriate qualifications may include nationally recognized units such as FWPCOT2254 – Maintain chainsaws
    FWPCOT2273 – Trim and cut felled trees and AHCMOM213 – Operate and maintain chainsaws or equivalent.
  • You must wear steel capped safety boots, long sleeve shirt and long pants for practical components. Task specific PPE will be coordinated by your trainer.
  • You must have the ability to fully participate in practical training and assessment including walking, bending, lifting, using tools and equipment.
  • You must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English to be appropriate for entry to this course.
